Nintendo unveils Nintendo 2DS, Wii U price drop, Wind Waker HD Wii U Bundle [Update: 2DS product video, shots]

Update: 2DS video, product & lifestyle shots

A whole lot of news coming out of Nintendo today! First up, and the biggest surprise, is the announcement of the Nintendo 2DS. This device is labeled as an “affordable entry point” into portable gaming with Nintendo, and will be priced at $129.99. Releasing on October 12th alongside Pokemon X and Y, the device is essentially a 3DS without the 3D, able to play both 3DS and DS titles. It also drops the clam shell design in favor of a fixed, slated form and will come in both blue and red at launch.

Nintendo is also dropping the price on the Wii U, taking the Deluxe bundle down to $299, and will be releasing a Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD bundle, news of which leaked earlier this week. The bundle will be priced at $299.99, and features a black Wii U Deluxe unit with some special Zelda art trim on the GamePad, a digital version of the Hyrule Historia book, and a digital version of Wind Waker HD.

Speaking of, Wind Waker HD will launch a little earlier via digital copy, with the eShop version of the game becoming available on September 20th. A boxed copy of the game is still on the way, featuring some trademark gold packaging, and is scheduled to release on October 4th. Both versions are priced at $49.99, with a GameStop special edition with Ganondorf figurine priced at $54.99.
