EPIX video streaming now available for the PS3, PS Vita app coming soon

As promised back in January, EPIX’s video streaming service is now rolling out for the PS3, and soon, the PS Vita. The free app can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store later today.

Those who subscribe to the service can start streaming movies and entertainment events as soon as they grab the app and sign in. Those who don’t subscribe can sign up and get a free 2 week trial with full access to entire EPIX library. PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to extra, exclusive content as well.

Read on for the press release.

Premium TV network EPIX is launching the EPIX app today on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system and will launch on the PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) in the coming weeks. A leader in multiplatform availability, EPIX will provide authenticated subscribers access to more than 3,000 titles, featuring new releases like The Avengers, Skyfall, The Hunger Games, Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, plus EPIX original programming including documentaries, music concerts, comedy specials and championship boxing all in high definition.

Just in time to catch the world television premiere of the biggest movie of 2012, The Avengers, PlayStation Network users in the U.S. can sign up for a free two week trial to EPIX and get access to the full slate of EPIX programming. On an ongoing basis, EPIX will offer exclusive content such as songs from EPIX Original Concert Events and in the future a free movie or special each week to PlayStation Plus members who download the EPIX app. For more information on the EPIX Free Trial and weekly free preview titles, please visit: www.epixhd.com/watchnow-ps3/.

The EPIX app will be available as a free download from the Media & Apps section of the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita users in the United States.

The ability to stream full movies and concerts on the PS3 and PS Vita systems is included as part of the EPIX premium subscription service available through cable, satellite and telco distributors.
