Nintendo and Tecmo Koei strategically team up for Pok?mon Conquest for the Nintendo DS

Nintendo this morning revealed that they are teaming up with Tecmo Koei to create a rather interesting new Pok?mon game for the Nintendo DS/3DS. No, it’s not Pok?mon Dynasty Warriors… instead, Tecmo Koei is dipping into their strategy background to put together Pok?mon Conquest, a sort of mash-up of Pok?mon games and the Nobunaga’s Ambition games.

Pok?mon Conquest is scheduled for a June 18th, 2012 release. Take a look at the first screens and art below, along with the announcement.

A creative new entry in the Pok?mon family of video games delivers a new way for fans to enjoy this legendary series on the Nintendo DS family of systems. Pok?mon Conquest, set to launch on June 18, offers a fun new way to play Pok?mon in a unique world called Ransei that is filled with adventure. Developed by TECMO KOEI GAMES Co., Ltd., the 2D game can also be played on the Nintendo 3DS system.

In Pok?mon Conquest, players take on the role of a young Warlord who is linked with a Pok?mon. Together, they must set out to recruit Warrior allies to strengthen their growing kingdom. Along their journey, players will encounter a variety of Pok?mon, as well as Warriors and Warlords inspired by the Japanese feudal era. The game contains nearly 200 Pok?mon, including many from the recent Pok?mon Black Version and Pok?mon White Version games, which have sold more than 4 million copies combined in the United States.

As the battlefield unfolds in Pok?mon Conquest, players must choose the correct Pok?mon type to inflict maximum damage on their opponents. In the turn-based skirmishes, players choose different tactics for intense six-on-six battles, and battle conditions can change on every turn, keeping players on their toes in anticipation of what will happen next.
