Sony shows off PlayStation Plus stats for 2011

This morning, SCEA felt the need to highlight the PlayStation Plus stats and deals for 2011.  Full disclosure, I’m a subscriber and plan to continue my subscription when it expires.

Anyway, throughout 2011 (this December included) there have been $1,200 in savings, 17 free PS3 games, 132 PS3 game discounts, 43 full game trials, 6 early access demos and access to 4 betas. Really, the variety of free games and pretty frequent discounts do make it a good deal, especially if you purchase a lot during the year. The automatic updates and patches and cloud saves don’t hurt either, and we’re sure that the PlayStation Vita will also benefit in some significant way in being a PS Plus subscriber.

Read on for additional stats and details from Sony.

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) today revealed that PlayStation Network?s subscription service, PlayStation Plus, offering free games, huge discounts, full game trials, early beta access as well as additional exclusive features like online game saves and automatic updates, delivered more than $1,200 in subscriber savings in 2011. Over the course of 2011? PlayStation Plus offered more than 17 free games for the PlayStation 3 system, 132 PS3 game discounts, 43 full game trials, 6 early access demos and access to 4 betas.

PlayStation Plus subscribers also received bonus discounts of up to 80 percent throughout the year on PlayStation Store exclusive game content and promotional programs including PSN PLAY, PSN Gamers? Choice Awards, Only On PSN, Summer Sale, Fall Sale and Holiday Collection.

?It?s been exciting to see such positive feedback from the PlayStation Community as we?ve offered free games such as Plants vs. Zombies, full-game trials like Red Dead Redemption and early access to the highly anticipated UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception Multiplayer Beta — all for just over $4 a month,? said Brandon Stander, Director of PlayStation Network Marketing, SCEA. ?At the end of the year the total value in free games and discounts offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers will be more than $1,200, and that doesn?t include the convenience and access to features such as automatic updates and online game saves. Now, as we head into 2012, we?re looking to expand and evolve PlayStation Plus to give subscribers even more savings and exclusive deals.?
